2009 Patton Lecture
October 26th, 2009
The 2009 Patton lecture was given by Professor Bruno Lemaitre, École Polytechnique Fédérale de
Lausanne, Switzerland. The title of his lecture was:
Drosophila intestinal response to bacterial infection: Activation of host defense and stem cell proliferation. The summary of his presentation is available below as a pdf.
Professor Lemaitre is an international authority on innate immunity and insect-bacterial interactions. As well as giving the Patton lecture, he met informally with colleagues and joined graduate students for lunch. The photo on the right shows Bruno with Angela and The Chair of the Department of Entomology, Dr Jeff Scott.

We also enjoyed the opportunity to show Bruno some local sites, including the waterfalls at Watkins Glen State Park and a local winery.
